Air strikes alone won't defeat Islamic State, Kerry warns
2015-12-04
[REUTERS] Syrian and other Arab ground forces must be found to take on Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
said on Thursday, warning the Lion of Islam group would not be defeated by air strikes alone.
That would depend on how big the air strikes were, wouldn't it?
Kerry was speaking hours after Britannia launched bombing raids against Islamic State targets in Syria, joining forces with La Belle France and the United States nearly three weeks after the jihadist group killed 130 people in attacks across Gay Paree.

#7  if Kerry says something, that is prima facie evidence for its opposite. Thus the sensible conclusion from his statement is that appropriate bombing missions can defeat the Daesh.
However the squeamishness about people dying so far displayed by US bombing will never do so.

#4  Agree gorb. I bet we could find bombs big enough if we really wanted to.

#3  The interesting question is whether the Air Force is doing more bomb runs in training practice in any given day than they're dropping bombs on ISIS on any given day. Training is serious business.
