| Rebels shell Taiz in violation of ceasefire |

| Iranian-backed rebels in Yemen continued to shell residential areas in the Southeastern Taiz city in violation of a UN-brokered ceasefire, prompting the national army and resistance to respond, a Yemeni news website reported on Thursday. Two resistance fighters were injured in the artillery shelling by the Houthis and their coup allies in the besieged city on Wednesday, Masdar Online said. It quoted military sources as saying artillery clashes erupted in various parts of the city after the legitimate army and resistance opened fire in response to Houthi shelling. The report said the rebels also targeted Seena area in Western Taiz with artillery and machine gun fire on Wednesday. It quoted the sources as saying one Grad rocket was also fired by the Houthis from their positions in Northwestern Taiz but there were no immediate reports of casualties. The report said intermittent clashes also erupted in other areas but that there were no air raids by the Arab coalition in respect of the ceasefire which was announced on Monday midnight. |
