| Soldier among 3 killed in Mohmand blasts |

| [DAWN] GHALANAI: Three people, among them a security man, were killed and three personnel injured when two roadside improvised bombs went off in Baizai, some 25km west of Ghalanai area of Mohmand tribal region, on Monday. Local officials said that Naib Subedar Naseer Khan and a taxi driver bit the dust in the first kaboom while the second blast left a civilian dead and three security personnel injured. The injured, one of them identified as Lt Col Taimur, were airlifted to hospital in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar ...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire. Officials said that security personnel were patrolling an area near Atam village in Baizai tehsil along the Afghan border when the blasts occurred. After the incident security forces cordoned off the area and started search operation but no arrest was reported till late night. |
