| BNP-A candidate’s house torched in Kech |

[Dawn] GWADAR: The house of Mohammed Ali Rind, who is contesting the by-election for PB-50 Turbat-3 as a candidate of the Balochistan National Party-Awami, was torched on Wednesday. The incident took place in Mand Bullo, a small town in Kech district along the border with Iran, Levies officials said. They said that a group of armed men riding a vehicle reached the house early in the morning and set it on fire. No one was in the house at the time of the attack. “All rooms and household items were gutted,” said Barkat Ali Rind, an eyewitness. The fire could not be brought under control for hours as the town does not have any fire-extinguishing equipment. Two days ago, armed men had torched the house of PML-N candidate Mir Akbar Askani in Tump area. The third important candidate is former speaker of the Balochistan Assembly and leader of National Party, Muhammad Akram Dashti, whose house in Turbat town was also attacked. By-election for PB-50 is scheduled for Thursday. |
