[Al Ahram] Security threats in Libya are increasingly a burden on regional and international security. Alongside politico-security festivities between different local actors, Libya has also witnessed the expansion of the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... (ISIS) group. This situation did not lead to the weakening of IS in Syria and Iraq, but rather offered an arena for the bad boy group in North Africa. |
