2016-01-06 |
At least one person was killed and another was wounded when heavily armed unknown gunmen attacked a compound near Mogadishu airport that housing Turkish nationals, residents said. A resident told Radio Shabelle that they woke up late on Monday night to a heavy gunfire exchanging between security guards at the Turkish building and assailants. “One attacker was killed and a security guard slightly wounded in the attack on the residence for the Turkish nationals near Mogadishu international airport,” said a resident. The gunmen reportedly sped-off in a minivan after they were overpowered in the gunfight. Turkish interests and diplomatic missions in Somalia have been repeatedly targeted by Al-Shabaab. Last Friday, a Turkish national working for a construction company was wounded when he was attacked while leaving a mosque after Friday prayers by gunmen in a speeding car. |
