Two representatives of the Council on American-Islamic Relations were invited as guests of honor at the urging of Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz -- and with the consent of the White House.
In a letter to lawmakers, Wasserman explained that inviting these and two dozen other Muslim guests to the president's speech would show "the world that we will not be intimidated by fear into discrimination" against Muslims in the wake of last month's massacre by Muslim terrorists in San Bernardino.
