| Security forces kill 6 ISIS fighters in Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Anbar – The commander of Anbar operations announced on Tuesday, that six members of the so called the Islamic state in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) were killed in eastern Ramadi (110 km west of Baghdad), while indicated to the destruction of communications headquarters belonging to ISIS. Maj. Gen. Ismail Mahlawi said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “This morning, security forces carried out a large-scale military operation on ISIS headquarters in al-Sofiya area (16 km east of Ramadi), including communications unit, communication equipment and surveillance cameras, while managed to destruct the headquarters completely, in addition to a number of weapons and missiles belonging to ISIS.” Mahlawi added, “The security forces were able to repel ISIS attack in al-Sofiya area and several axes, killing six ISIS members and destructing a missiles launch pad, as well as cutting ISIS funding lines in eastern Ramadi.” Iraqi army foils suicide attack in Sufiyah east of Ramadi (IraqiNews.com) al-Anbar – Anbar Operations Command announced on Tuesday, that the Iraqi army forces had managed to repel a suicide attack that targeted the security forces in al-Sufiyah area east of Ramadi. Maj. Gen. Ismail al-Mahalawi, the commander of Anbar Operations Command, said in a brief statement received by IraqiNews.com, “This evening, an army force belonging to Anbar Operations had managed to repel an attack by a booby-trapped vehicle on the security forces in the area of al-Sufiyah east of Ramadi.” He added, “The force was able to detonate the vehicle remotely and kill the suicide bomber that was driving it without causing any human or material losses in the ranks of the security forces.” |
