Rooshun warbirds hammer targets in Homs
2016-01-29
HOMS – Russian and Syrian fighter jets launched on Thursday joint raids on opposition-held towns and villages in Syria’s central province of Homs.

Dozens of civilian casualties were reported in the airstrikes, according to a local documentation center.

Thursday’s airstrikes targeted the towns of Talbiseh and Rastan in the countryside of Homs, that are held by the armed opposition. Several other strikes hit the village of Ghantou.

“The Russian and Syrian warplanes bombed populated neighborhoods in the countryside of Homs. Dead bodies of 28 civilians were pulled from the rubble,” spokesman of Homs documentation center Hussein Farouq told ARA News.

“At least 40 others were injured in the airstrikes in Talbiseh, Rastan and Ghantou on Thursday,” the source said. “Some of the wounded are in critical conditions, and the stricken areas suffer a sharp shortage of medicines and equipment.”

Farouq stressed that all the casualties were civilians, including eight children and fourteen women.

In the meantime, activists reported that Syrian and Russian warplanes launched joint raids over the ISIS-held city of al-Bab and Tadif town north of Aleppo. Seven civilian casualties were reported in the airstrikes.
