6 militants killed in Afghan Air Force, army raids in Laghman
2016-02-23
At least six anti-government armed militants were killed in joint operations conducted by the Afghan national security forces, involving Afghan Air Force (AAF) in eastern Laghman province of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the raids were conducted as part of the ongoing Fulad 34 operations to clear parts of Laghman province from the militants activities.

A statement by MoD said at least four suspects were also arrested during the operations and various types of weapons and explosives were confiscated.

The statement further added that the operations were conducted together with the first brigade of 201 Silab corps of the Afghan National Army, Afghan police and Afghan intelligence operatives.

Afghan Air Force (AAF) provided close-air support to the Afghan forces targeting militants in Bibi Hajera, Manjama Gul, Kapri, Moin Qala and Zawya Qala villages from the militants, MoD said.

The statement also added that two guns, 3 hand grenades and various improvised explosive device were confiscated during the operations.
The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.

Laghman is among the relatively volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants are often carrying out insurgency activities in a number of its remote districts.
