| Two women killed during clash with Abu Sayyaf |

| [Inquirer] Two women were killed when Philippine security forces and Abu Sayyaf militants clashed in Lamitan City early Monday morning. Basilan police said soldiers were responding to a report about the presence of armed men in Barangay Bohe-Ibo when the rebels opened fire. Maj. Gen. Demy Tejares said the target of the operation was Abu Sayyaf militant Nurhassan Lahaman. Tejares said details of the clash were scant but he knew the operation was carried out in support of the police, which was trying to arrest Lahaman. |
