Vohra reaffirm India’s commitment to equip and support Afghan forces |

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan Manpreet Vohra reaffirmed his country’s commitment to equip and support the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF). During a meeting with Hanif Atmar, the National Security Adviser, Mr. Vohra also promised India’s support towards the Afghan government’s policies for peace talks with the anti-government armed bully boy groups. According to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the group was formed in 2012 which include India, Pakistain, Iran, Russia, United States, china and Afghanistan. The group was formed with an aim to fight the menace of terrorism and secure peace and stability in Afghanistan, the Office of National Security Adviser said, adding that Mr. Atmar emphasized on the vital role of India in resolving regional disputes, being an active regional power. India has played a crucial role by participating in the rebuilding of Afghanistan following the fall of the Taliban regime in 2001. Since 2002, the Government of India has committed around USD 2 billion dollars to the socio-economic rebuilding of the Afghan state and society in accordance with the development priorities of the Government and the people of Afghanistan. India took a major step in enhancing the capabilities of the Afghan cops by supplying three Mi-25 gunship helicopters to the Afghan Air Force late last year. |
