| NDS rescue 2 hostages during a special operation in Helmand province |

The National Directorate of Security ...the Afghan national intel agency... (NDS) said the raid was conducted in Lashkargah, the bustling provincial capital of Helmand province. A statement by NDS said one of the hostages were a 2-year-old child and teenage boy who were kidnapped by the gang from Qala-e-Boost and Safian areas of the city. The statement further added that the kidnappers were demanding a large ransom from the families of the hostages, forcing the intelligence operatives to intervene and secure their release. At least four kidnappers were jugged You have the right to remain silent... by the intelligence operatives during the raid, NDS said, adding that the suspects have been identified as Abdul Razaq son of Mohammad Agha, Mohammad Nadir son of Mohammad Jan, Hamidullah son of Lal Mohammad and Khan Wali son of Mohammad Ibrahim. This comes as the Afghan intelligence operatives rescued a hostage from the kidnappers in central Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan as the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of $1 millio for his release. Kidnap for ransom cases still continue in parts of the country despite the Afghan intelligence nabbed two MAFIA bosses involved in major kidnappings who were later executed by the government. The two top MAFIA leaders, Habib Istalif and Raees Khudaidad, were executed late in 2014 and early in 2015 after they were arrested by intelligence operatives. |
