| Security forces rebuff Taliban attack in Badakhshan’s Baharak district |

| [Khaama (Afghanistan)] Security forces have rebuffed a heavy attack of Talibs in Baharak district of northeastern Badakhshan province. A local official said a large number of forces of Evil equipped with heavy and light weapons launched attack on security posts in Yardar area around 6 am on Wednesday but they were given a befitting response. The governor’s spokesperson said five Taliban were killed, 10 maimed and four others tossed in the slammer I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece! in the clash. Residents of the area also assisted army, police and personnel of the National Directorate of Security ...the Afghan national intel agency... (NDS) in chasing away the Taliban who came from Wardoj district for the attack, Ahmad Nawid Firotan added. According to Firotan, two army personnel also embraced martyrdom and three others sustained injuries in the shootout. Badakhshan was one of the comparatively secured provinces of Afghanistan but it is now going through some of its worst security. Taliban have carried out several deadly attacks in this province including them was the April 2015 assault in Wardooj district in which at least 23 army personnel were martyred. |
