Steep rise in Afghan army casualties, 26 soldiers martyred in past 3 days
2016-03-08
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] There has been a steep rise in Afghan National Army (ANA) forces casualties during the recent days as the Ministry of Defense (MoD) reported at least 26 deaths in the past 3 days.

In the latest Operational Update, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said Monday that 13 soldiers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) bit the dust during counter-terrorism operations in the past 24 hours.

In another Operational Update on Sunday, the Ministry of Defense said at least 6 soldiers of the Afghan army were martyred while conducting clearance operations against the anti-government armed holy warriors.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter wished he had a cup of coffee. Even instant would do...
the Ministry of Defense reported that 7 soldiers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces bit the dust during the counter-terrorism operations.

There has been a sharp rise in the casualties of the Afghan national security forces since they took full control of the security responsibilities from the coalition forces at the start of last year.

The Afghan armed forces have stepped up counter-terrorism operations during the recent months amid rampant Taliban-led insurgency across the country.

According to the earlier estimates by security officials, the Afghan army deaths stood at 4 service members daily on average which is mainly caused due to improvised bomb (IED) attacks.

#1  Operation Enduring Freedom ended Dec 2014

we are now in Operation Freedom's Sentinel.

Afghanistan has about 150k troops active of which at least 25% to 50% are not combat ready.

taliban have about 30k to 50k (many of whom are part timers)

ISIS, Al Q, Haqqani and others from <1k to 10k

Afghanistan has lost some 20k to 50k soldiers, police, etc. in past 15 years (depending on how militias, part timers, deserters are counted).

Taliban has lost some 20k-60k.

No end in sight for this conflict.
