2016-03-08
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan and Pak forces exchanged along the Durand Line for several hours starting late on Sunday afternoon, local officials in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
said.

The festivities erupted in Goshta district of Nangarhar province around 2:00 pm local time and reportedly continued for several hours.

According to the local officials, the exchange of fire erupted after the Pak militia forces attack Anarki area in Goshta district.

A member of the provincial council said the Afghn forces were forced to respond to the heavy fire by the Pak forces who were using light and heavy weapons, including artillery fire.

There are no reports if the festivities resulted to any death or injuries on the two sides with the main motive behind the clash yet to be ascertained.

Provincial governor front man Ataullah Khogyani confirmed the incident but he did not disclose further information in this regard.

This comes as a similar incident took place between the Afghan and Pak forces along the Durand Line earlier last year.

Local officials in Kandahar province said the festivities between the two sides broke out after Afghan border police forces stopped the Pak troops to create check posts inside the Afghan soil.
