(IS) which also goes by its Arabic name Daesh [Islamic State] have been killed in a drone strike in eastern Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. province. According to Nangarhar Media Center, the holy warriors were targeted by Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAE) in Mamond Dara area of Achin district last night. It further states that weapons and ammunition of the holy warriors were also destroyed in the attack. U.S. Forces in Afghanistan have increased air campaign against holy warriors in Nangarhar which is considered the stronghold of Daesh [Islamic State] in Afghanistan. The coalition officials estimate around 1,000 to 3,000 Islamic State fighters are stationed in eastern Afghanistan and are trying to establish a base of operations in the rugged mountains of Nangarhar Province. |
