| Fresh Kenyan forces enter southern Somalia |

| Reports reaching us from Lower Jubba region indicate that fresh Kenyan troops have crossed into Somalia, to reinforce KDF fighting against Al shabaab militants. Sources says the KDF backed by armored vehicles and fighter jets stationed at Kenyan army bases in Afmadow, Tabta and Qoqani towns in Lower Jubba region, south Somalia. Upon their arrival, the Kenyan troops began military movements and surveillance operations on nearby Al shabaab controlled villages, using four warplanes, reports said. The move comes after as many as 150 Kenyan soldiers serving with the African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM) were killed in a massive Al shabaab car bomb and gun attack in January 15, 2016. |
