| Zabul’s new governor vows strict fight against corruption |

| [Khaama (Afghanistan)] Bismillah Afghanmal, the newly appointed governor for southern Zabul province has vowed strict fight against corruption. He expressed these comments during his speech at a ceremony organized for his introduction to other local officials and residents of Zabul on Tuesday. Afghanmal also promised acting against injustice and oppression. He urged locals to assist him during his service period. Bismillah Afghanmal was recommended for the post by the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) and approved by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani ...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. .. through a decree. Hailing from Zabul’s neighboring Kandahar province, Afghanmal has served as a member of parliament representing Kandahar. He was one of the supporters of President Ghani during the presidential election. |
