| Taliban equipped with Humvee armored vehicles attack security posts in Balkh |

| [Khaama (Afghanistan)] A group of armed Talibs equipped with Humvee armored vehicles launched coordinated attacks on security posts in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan. According to the local government officials in Balkh, the Afghan cops managed to successfully repulse the attack by the Taliban militnats which was launched late on Friday night. The officials further added that the Talibs attacked three security posts in Dasht-e-Khairabad located on the highway towards Khulm district. The highway also connects the restive Kunduz province in the north which was briefly taken over by the Talibs las summer, the officials added. According to the officials, the security posts were occupied by the public uprising security forces and members of the Afghan national security forces who successfully repulsed the attack by the Talibs. Pictures emerging from the site of the attack purportedly showed Humvee armored vehicles caputred by the security forces following the attack. The Talibs had also written ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ and ‘Omari Lashkar’ on the Humvee armored vehicles which they were using for the offensive in Balkh province. The Talibs group has not commented regarding the report so far. |
