AG Lynch wants to let nation break law without consequences, system rigged against criminals
2016-03-27
[NY Post] As New York moves to decriminalize low-level offenses, arguing enforcement is "rigged against communities of color," other large cities are coming under pressure from the Justice Department to do the same thing.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch has issued a warning to municipal and state judges across the country that their courts could lose federal funding if they don’t ease up on fines and arrest warrants for minor crimes involving poor offenders, indigent minorities in particular.

In lieu of fines and jail time, Lynch urges the nation’s 6,500 municipal courts to provide an avenue for offenders to perform "community service" or take advantage of "amnesty days," whereby outstanding arrest warrants are cleared for nominal fees.

Failure to comply with these policies could trigger a Ferguson-style discrimination investigation. Already, Lynch says she’s "evaluating discrimination complaints against several court systems."

#7  I'm all for having people do work for the state instead of jail time for misdemeanors as punishment. Having to clean up a road in hot pink suits all day in the sun is a good way to work off an infraction.

#6  "your rights matter for nothing. Anyone and everyone can be prosecuted at any time, just for pissing off the wrong people."

Isn't that what we have now, #5 Iblis? :-(

#5  The Left's version of justice is that everything is against the law. Whether or not you are prosecuted depends on how well you pay obeisance to the system and the ruling party.

In this way, your rights matter for nothing. Anyone and everyone can be prosecuted at any time, just for pissing off the wrong people.

#4  Although it totally contradicts the Broken Windows policing model that turned New York from one giant crime scene into a livable city, I propose a Federal Crime Stamps program to help our poor offenders and indigent minorities cope with the criminal justice system.

In addition to allowing them to escape the consequences of their actions, this program would teach them about future time and delayed gratification as they decide whether to spend their monthly allotment on a bunch of pissant misdemeanors or save up for a big juicy felony.
