| 2 die in bomb attack on market (IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday, that 11 people had been either killed or wounded in a bomb blast near fruits and vegetables market in southern Baghdad. The source said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “This morning, a bomb exploded near fruits and vegetables market in Yusufiya area in southern Baghdad, killing two people and wounding nine others.” The source, who asked anonymity, added, “A security force rushed to the area and evacuated the wounded to a nearby hospital for treatment and the dead bodies to the forensic medicine department, while carried out a raid to search for the perpetrators of the bombing.” Iraqi forces close bridge in Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A security source revealed on Sunday, that the security forces cut off al-Gomhoreya Bridge in central Baghdad. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “The security forces cut off al-Gomhoreya Bridge in central Baghdad, and prevented the vehicles movement over it.” Earlier today, Iraqi Cleric Muqtada al-Sadr entered the Green Zone in central Baghdad and decided to protest inside the area alone against the government’s slow pace of carrying out reforms. Iraqi forces detain ISIS bomb maker (IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Iraqi police said on Sunday, that the security forces had managed to arrest the ISIS explosive expert in the so-called Wilayat Baghdad during a tactical operation north of the capital Baghdad. The source said in a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, “Based on intelligence information, the Eighth Brigade of the Federal Police carried out, today, a tactical operation in the district of al-Taji north of Baghdad,” adding that, “The operation resulted in the arrest of the ISIS explosives official, in addition to [seizing] bombs, explosive belts, weapons and ammunition.” |
