| Afghan forces instructed to consolidate operations to fight growing instability |

| The Afghan security institutions have been instructed to consolidate and create further coordination to fight the growing instability in the country. The instruction was issued during the National Security Council (NSC) meeting chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani. According to the Presidential Palace media office, the NSC meeting reviewed the reports about the security situation of Helmand, Urugan, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul and Baghlan provinces. The Afghan national security forces were also hailed for their achievements and bravery to defend from the national interests of the country. The instructions by NSC are issued amid deteriorating security situation across the country as the Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant. There are concerns that the Taliban militants will pursue violence during the summer despite efforts by the Afghan government to end the violence through reconciliation process. The acting Afghan intelligence Chief Massoud Andarabi earlier warned that the Taliban will not renounce violence and will continue to their insurgency with the full support of Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence. |
