| 30 killed as Afghan Air Force pound militants in Uruzgan province |

| At least 30 militants were killed in two separate operations conducted by the Afghan National Security Forces pounded militants in southern Uruzgan province in coordination with the Afghan Air Force. The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the militants were targeted in Dehrawood district of Uruzgan by the Afghan security force. According to an operational update by Ministry of Defense (MoD), at least 17 militants were also wounded during the raids. At least 5 militants were killed in separate operations conducted in Ghazni and Farah provinces, MoD said, adding that 6 others were also wounded. The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the reports so far. The Afghan security forces have stepped up counter-terrorism operations amid deteriorating security situation to suppress the activities of the militants. The Afghan officials are optimistic to curb the summer offensive of the militants with greater capabilities including close-air support with the addition of new equipment supplied by United States and other allies of Afghanistan. |
