| 39 ISIS loyalists killed in Afghan forces raids in Nangarhar |

| At least 39 ISIS loyalists were killed during a raid by the Afghan national security forces in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the militants were killed in air and ground operations conducted in Nazian, Achin and Kot districts. MoD further added that 15 militants affiliated with the terror group were also wounded during the same operations. Local security officials earlier said at least 19 militants were killed during the raids conducted in Kot district of Nangarhar as part of a military operation to clear the area from the militants presence. Provincial police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqwal said the operations are led by provincial police Chief Gen. Fazal Ahmad Sherzad. He said the Afghan forces kicked off the operations this morning and as a result at least 19 ISIS loyalits were killed and 15 others were wounded. Mashriqwal further added that the Afghan security forces did not suffer any casualties during the operations. This comes as the US forces conducted a drone strike in Achin district of Nangarhar province earlier, leaving at least 6 loyalists of the terror group dead. The Afghan forces have intensified counter-terrorism operations against the terror group loyalists amid concerns that attempts are being made by the militants affiliated with ISIS to expand foothold in Afghanistan. |
