| 1 civilian dies in bomb attack (IraqiNews.com) A local source in Diyali province said on Wednesday, that three farmers had been either killed or injured in a bomb blast that took place inside an orchard northeast of Baqubah. The source reported for IraqiNews.com, “This morning, an explosive device that was emplaced inside an orchard near the village of al-Had al-Akhdar (17 km northeast of Baqubah) exploded, killing a farmer and wounding two others,” pointing out that, “The security forces cordoned off the area and opened an investigation into the causes and circumstances of the incident.” Iraqi kops seize munitions cache (IraqiNews.com) Diyala – On Wednesday the commander of Diyala police Major General Jassim al-Saadi announced finding a cache containing weapons, explosives and medicines during search operations conducted northeast of Baqubah. Saadi said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “Security forces from the police’s emergency regiment carried out wide-scale search operations in the vicinity of Hanbs villages, and found a weapons and explosives cache containing nine launchers, six Katyusha rockets, six mortar shells, a number of improvised explosive devices and medicines.” Saadi added, “The operations were carried out to eliminate the danger of ISIS sleeper cells in the areas of Diyala.” |
