North Korea says it will stop its nuclear tests on the condition that the US halts its annual military exercises with South Korea."It is really crucial for the United States government to withdraw its hostile policy against the DPRK and as an expression of this stop the military exercises, war exercises, in the Korean Peninsula. Then we will respond likewise," said North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Su-yong in an interview with the News Agency that Dare Not be Named in New York on Saturday.
He added that if the exercises stop "for some period, for some years...new opportunities may arise for the two countries and for the entire world as well."
In March, the US and South Korea began massive war games involving more than 17,000 American and 300,000 South Korean troops, with warships and aircraft carrying out live-fire drills in the region.
