| Security Forces Launch Helmand Operation |

| Helmand Police Chief Abdul Rahman Sarjang said on Thursday an operation codenamed Khanjar was launched in Lashkargah city and four other districts of the province two days ago to clear the areas of militants. Sarjang said the operation will continue until all militants have been eliminated. According to Sarjang, as a result of the operation, so far several villages have been cleared of Taliban and troops are making steady progress. "The military council of the province decided to start the operation and we started the operation under the name of Khanjar on Tuesday and as a result we have cleared many villages and killed and wounded more than 20 Taliban," Sarjang said.
