"Resolute Support Mission-trained Ministry of Interior ‪#‎MOI‬ Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) Corruption Investigation Unit personnel thwarted a major rocket attack on Kabul on Friday, May 13," according to a statement by the alliance.
The statement further added that the MCTF members acted on source information and seized three 122 mm rockets aimed at the city of Kabul.
According to RS, the 122 mm rockets are a fairly rare occurrence in Afghanistan and deliver devastating effects from their 40+ pound warhead.
"This effort demonstrates MCTF’s scope of investigative capacity into insurgency matters and ability to react quickly to an imminent threat," the statement added.
This comes as the anti-government armed holy warrior groups have been attempting to carry out attacks in capital Kabul.
The Afghan national security forces managed to thwart at least five major attacks in capital Kabul plotted by the notorious Haqqani terrorist network during the past one month.
