#7  Then you believe in theory over reality. Deal with real human nature. RJ does get it. We promote 'workfare' over welfare, but don't grasp the same trade off between employment and imports. We just shift the collection process from higher costs of goods and services to higher cost of government support systems and the massive bureaucracy that goes with it.

#6  I don't think I missed the point. Calling Chinese shenanigans free trade is like saying that we need obamacare because free market healthcare has failed.

#5  The lessen we learned is that for most people it is better to be poor and employed then on welfare with lots of cheap goods.

The other lessen is the elites don't care.

#4  You miss the point. Commerce with China was and is sold as Free Trade. The point is that Free Trade is like socialist theory. It ignores human behavior to rationalize all the good things and not what actually occurs when put into practice. People cheat for their own interests. Someone gains, someone pays.

#1  For the Chinese, it's always been China first.

The Capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them - Lenin

They certainly left the American working class out to dry.
