(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Friday, hundreds of followers of the Sadrist Movement stormed the Council of Ministers building in the Green Zone in central Baghdad.

An local source reported for IraqiNews.com “Today, hundreds of followers of the Sadrist Movement broke into the Council of Ministers building inside the Green Zone in central Baghdad,” adding that, “The security forces tried to prevent the protestors from storming the building by firing live bullets at them, resulting in a number of casualties.”

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The number of wounded protestors as a result of storming the Council of Ministers building in the Green Zone amounted to 81 people, a source in the Ministry of Interior said on Friday.

The source said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “The number of wounded protesters who stormed the presidential green region rose to 81 wounded,” noting that, “Most of the cases are caused by suffocation with tear gas.”

The source, who asked anonymity, added, “The injured are receiving treatment in a number of hospitals in the capital, Baghdad.”
