| Ahrar al-Sham, Nusra Front take Deir Khabiya from regime west of Damascus |

| [EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Powerful Ahrar al-Sham ...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014... movement and al-Qaeda's Syria branch, the Nusra Front, have seized control of a strategic town on the western outskirts of Damascus on Thursday, killing and wounding dozens of regime forces, rebel sources and state-run media said. The capture of Deir Khabiya town has failed regime's plan to encircle the Western Ghouta suburbs as well may ease the noose on the besieged Daraya town, according to activists. Ahrar al-Sham backed by Nusra Front branch and other rebels groups launched the battle of 'Zaeer al-Ahrar' late on Wednesday to capture Deir Khabiya and nearby district that links between Quneitra province and Damascus. Regime media outlets said regime forces had made tactical retreat from the town, denying the humiliating defeat that inflicted by Islamist factions. |
