| [CVT] ORLANDO, Fla. -- Embracing grieving Orlando families and appealing anew for national action, President Barack Obama claimed a threat to all Americans' security Thursday as a strong reason to tighten U.S. gun laws. Counterterror campaigns overseas, he declared, can never prevent all "lone wolf" attacks like the one that killed 49 people in Orlando. Speaking at a makeshift memorial to the victims, Obama said the massacre at a gay nightclub was evidence that "different steps" are needed to limit the damage a "deranged" person set on committing violence can do. He cheered on Democrats' push for new gun control measures, including a new ban on assault weapons and stricter background checks. Although he showed little hope the measures would find much support among most opponents, Obama seemed to be aiming for other lawmakers, perhaps Republican hawks eager to get behind counterterror campaigns but steadfastly opposed to gun restrictions. |

| #1 The TV visit of Obama and Biden in Orlando showed a long line of black cars and Obama and Biden carrying flowers somewhere, but what it didn't show was ANY people attending the event. Just empty streets for what looked like two blocks all around the event..and the flowers, and stuff ( and Biden doing the carrying ). And Obama and Biden standing out of the sun near a podium inside an open tent with NOBODY else in camera range... the whole place EMPTY of citizens. Who're they actually speaking TO ? The speech by Obama was read in a monotone and turn the page ( no teleprompter) but no actual people anywhere either. Just empty for two blocks in every direction....wherever the cameras actually focused. No attendance by anybody. WAS anybody actually THERE? Nobody even came down to see and hear the President of the United States ? Just a dead speech ( what did Obama actually SAY ? (Anybody remember what the greatest speaker since Cairo or Lincoln, said in such a touching moment ? ) Nobody there. Obama talking to an empty tent...not even any chairs. And a view of two blocks and way out of pistol range ...Orlando beyond a circle of Black Cars. And he was consoling the dead relatives? I must have missed that. Actually getting close enough to the President to maybe touch him...or have him touch you back...how would you like to have Obama "touch" you? Any social media pictures of anybody close enough to the President during this event / No? I wonder why. |
