| Clashes near Abu Sleem |

| Clashes were reported overnight between militias near Tripoli’s Abu Sleem district following an earlier shooting incident in which a boy was killed. The boy was in a car with his father, named as Hussain Naib, when it was shot at. He later died. People in Abu Sleem have variously blamed a Misratan militia or the militia of Salah Al-Burki, based in Hadba for the killing, leading to a standoff between the militia of local commander Abdul Ghani Al-Kikli (“Ghneiwa”) and those of forces Burki. Meanwhile, elsewhere across the city, anger at the presence of Misratan forces has grown massively, especially since Tuesday’s killings in Garabulli. In in the west of the capital, in Ghut Shaal, locals set tyres on fire and blocked roads. Further protests are expected today. We earlier reported that Ghneiwa’s forces were suspected of the boy’s killing and that they were now allied to the Misratans. We were mistaken. This was not the case |
