Agency Admits It Destroyed Records After Six-Year FOIA Stonewall
2016-07-28
[DAILYCALLER] Department of Labor (DOL) officials likely violated federal law when they said they had records requested under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), then six years later said they didn’t and deleted an email account that proved otherwise, Americans for Limited Government (ALG) said in a FOIA appeal Tuesday.

"At best, this is a case of mismanagement," ALG President Nathan Mehrens told The Daily Caller News Foundation. "At worst, well, use your imagination. Are they hiding something and trying to run out the clock in order to avoid sunlight into their operations?"

ALG claims in an appeal to the DOL solicitor general that department officials likely violated FOIA and the Federal Records Act by failing to conduct a reasonable search for documents and destroying potentially relevant email records.
Mehrens will file a complaint with the department’s inspector general in the next week.

#4  Appears to be some sort of unwritten 'Statute of Limitations' regarding evidence tampering, gov't corruption and duplicity.

#3  If I get a ticket at a parking lot at the airport I pay for however many hours I stayed in the lot. If I lose the ticket I automatically get a maximum fine. Sucks if you lose the ticket but you can't promote people to just toss the ticket away because the charge is less.

That is how this should be treated. Admission of guilt with maximum penalties. Start treating this nonsense like that and the foot soldiers will think twice about following illegal orders and taking the fall.
