#1 OX513A is engineered to block tetracycline production resulting in its demise. It is estimated up to 75% of tetracycline administered to farm animals is excreted in waste. Oxitec acknowledges tetracycline present in the environment could result in a survival rate of up to 15% of the Ox513A population. |
