Air Algerie flight declares mid-air emergency on journey from Algiers to Marseille 'then disappears from radar'
2016-08-06
Breaking story: post comments and updates in this post please. We'll follow today.
A passenger jet has declared a mid-air emergency and seemingly disappeared from radar, according to reports.

The Boeing 736 took off from Algiers this afternoon on a flight to Marseille but let out an emergency call shortly after take-off. Flight radar showed the plane turn around and head back towards the point where it took-off but before arriving, the jet disappeared from radar.
Update at 1135 CT: returned to Algiers and landed safely. Apparent "technical difficulties".

#5  Perhaps the technical difficulties were subdued by the pilots and disposed of safely before landing.

#3  I guess all planes disappear from radar when they land.
Gives reporters something exciting to tell us on dull news days or when there is bad news for Hillary.

#2  It's shorthand for 737-600.

#1  Obviously the Boeing 736 is the stealth version off the 737.
