1 dead in bomb attack on checkpoint

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – One soldier was killed and two others injured on Wednesday when a car bomb exploded south of Baghdad near an army checkpoint at Arab Jabour. This was informed by a source in the Iraqi police.

“Security forces cordoned off the area and transported the injured to a nearby hospital. The body of the deceased soldier was taken to the forensic department,” the source, seeking anonymity, added.

11 die in hospital fire

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Iraqi Ministry of Health shared today that 11 children were killed in a fire that broke out in al-Yarmouk Hospital foyer in western Baghdad. 36 patients so far have been evacuated to other hospitals.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Health Ahmed al-Rodini said, “The fire, which broke out last night in one of the foyers of Yarmouk Hospital in western Baghdad, killed 11 newborn children and damaged the foyer to a large extent.”

Rodini added, “Civil Defense teams managed to douse the fire and evacuated 29 women and 7 children to other hospitals. The fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.’

Federal policemen injured in bomb blast north of Baghdad

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Iraqi police informed on Wednesday that four federal policemen were injured in bomb blast north of Baghdad.

Sharing details the source said, “An explosive device was placed on the side of a road in Taji, north of Baghdad. The explosion occurred near a patrol of federal police, which injured four policemen.”

“Security forces cordoned off the area and transferred the wounded to a nearby hospital,” further added the source seeking anonymity

#1  Just an observation:
I've been following the Bomb and Bullet Bulletin for almost a year now, and it seems Baghdad is a mild version of Rahm Emanuel's Chicago.

Should we have a similar column for Chicago? (The name "Rahm's Rape and Corpse Count" comes to mind)

A comparison between Chicago and Baghdad would be educational.
