Kurds end offensive operations in Mosul

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Peshmerga forces announced ending its extensive military operation that began yesterday by regaining control of 12 villages.

Peshmerga forces yesterday regained control of 12 villages including- Abzakh, Karkasha, Tel Hameed, al-Takhi, small Kanchi, Shanf, Sutaih, Homaira and Amiriya and other three villages today including Hasudiya, small Kahnash and big Kahnash, which previously were under ISIS control.

Kurdish sources said that the offensive that was carried out under the supervision of Massoud Barzani, President of Kurdistan Region, has achieved its targets and also killed 15 ISIS members at small Kahnasha and big Kahnasha. Another 150 ISIS members were killed during military operations on Sunday and Monday.

DUHOK – Kurdish forces of the Peshmerga bombed ISIS positions in the Khazir district of Nineveh province in northwestern Iraq, and captured at least 12 villages on Monday.

The Iraqi Kurdistan’s Peshmerga were able to expel ISIS from the villages of Abzakh, Tal Hamid, Taakhi, Kanshi al-Saghira, Shanf, Satih, Humaira, al-Ameriyah, al-Hasoudiyah, Kanshaha al-Saghira and Kinshasa al-Kabira.

“Monday’s gains enabled the Peshmerga army to reach the strategic Kuweir bridge, pushing ISIS back in Nineveh,” Peshmerga officer Bassim Mahmoud told ARA News.

The Kurdish leadership reported that at least 160 ISIS militants were killed in the recent operations.

“The remarkable advance took place while President Massoud Barzani [of Iraqi Kurdistan] joined the fighting front to accompany the Peshmergas,” Mahmoud reported.

The official pointed out that 13 Kurdish soldiers lost their lives in Monday’s clashes, among them were three Syrian Kurds.
