#2 Yes, a 'Stereo Camera'. Probably French made, based on the postcard's 'country of origin'.
Likely a Gaumont, Leullier or Jeanneret & Cie.
Those French manufacturers used the flip-up viewfinders for both their 'mono' and 'stereo' portable cameras. Usually the larger 'frame' was at the rear, though. That allowed the user to get the whole image background aligned and then center it with the smaller front sight as a reference point. Putting the larger frame at the front would be more difficult for stereo photos, in my opinion.
Tricky to use in either configuration. The advent of the optical viewfinder made it much easier. |
