| Islamist rebels attempt to make peace in the East Ghouta |

| [ALMASDARNEWS] Jaish Al-Fustat, an Islamist rebel group in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus, issued a statement on Friday that offered peace to their rivals from Jaish Al-Islam. In the statement released by Jaish Al-Fustat, the Islamist group promises to release their Jaish Al-Islam prisoners in order to make peace with the group. The purpose of this statement was to end the war between the Islamist groups, so that they could focus on fighting the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the East Ghouta. Jaish Al-Fustat also added that they are halting all offensive operations against Jaish Al-Islam due to the recent developments that have transgressed in the East Ghouta. These developments include the Syrian Arab Army’s capture of several rural villages near the Jaish Al-Islam stronghold of Douma and the recent capture of Darayya, which is located in the West Ghouta. Jaish Al-Islam has not issued a formal response to this truce offering. |
