A mother who pleaded guilty to fraudulently enrolling her six-year-old son in the wrong school district has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Tonya McDowell sent her son to an elementary school in Norwalk, Connecticut, instead of her home city of Bridgeport.

...Authorities told the hearing that she used a babysitter's address to enroll her son in kindergarten in Norwalk when he should have attended schools in Bridgeport, her last permanent address.

#6  Apparently, the place has gone downhill since the Industrial Revolution.

#5  Ran my Dad's sailboat aground near Bridgeport in 1969. Spent the night in the police station and totally bombed by Trig Regents Exam the next morning. Got the boat off ok at the next high tide and had it lifted and repaired (pretty minimal) at a local boatyard. While there it was robbed of all movable items of value - more than the repair cost. Not fond of Bridgeport.

#2  ...It should be pointed out that she was also up on drug charges. The combined sentence for the two is the five years.
