G20 Summit: Barack Obama warns US-UK trade relations could unravel after Brexit
2016-09-05
[INDEPENDENT.CO.UK] Barack Obama
Jedi mind meld...
has said the US and UK will have to do everything they can to make sure strong trade links do not start "unravelling" as a result of Brexit.

In a blow to Brexiteers' hopes of a quick trade deal with the US, he stood by his comment that the UK was now at the "back of the queue" for trade talks.
Until January, 2017. President Trump will move them to the front as one of his first acts of office...
Speaking at the G20 Summit alongside Theresa May, he said the US trade negotiations with the EU was his priority.

Mr Obama said: "We have a lot of investment, including British companies in the United States and US companies in the United Kingdon.

"That's not going to stop. We're going to do everything we can to make sure that the consequences of the [Brexit] decision don't end up unravelling what is already a very strong and robust economic relationship."

Mr Obama gave a warm welcome to Mrs May at her first big international summit, but the meeting was tainted by Mr Obama's intervention during the referendum campaign in which he said the UK would go to the "back of the queue" for trade talks.

When he made the intervention it was hailed by Remainers as proof of the damaging results of a potential vote to quit the EU, but it outraged Leave campaigners who accused him of unduly meddling in British politics.

#6  It's amazing how much economic damage one man can cause. If that's not the ultimate argument for smaller, unobtrusive government, I don't know what is.

#5  Jan 2017? Who knows what will happen. Few experiments in democracy appear to have lasted long. Perhaps ours will be no exception. The legalized killing of the unborn and the selling of body parts is a particularly egregious omen. The endless borrowing of money and feckless foreign military entanglements are two additional omens pointing to doom.

#3  Our Kenyan master is the champion of statism and the collective. He has never succeeded at anything else. His loathing of the UK long predates Brexit and is on a par with his loathing of Israel. Remember, "you didn't make that." All success is the product of the collective as controlled by a strong central government.

Now once again, "get to the back of the line."

The quest for racial, egalitarian utopias always produces these types. Robert Mugabe and Jacob Zuma are but two contemporary examples. Like Obama, they share meme of colonial oppression and injustice. Before colonial oppression it was the theft of cattle and of wives by the tribe just over the hill. Blame must always be re-directed. Personal responsibility avoided.

Tribalism at it's root is the purist form of communism. The sooner Obama's failed legacy finds the rubbish bin of history the better.

And no, it doesn't "take a village!"
