[Dhaka Tribune] Three suspected female bandidos snuffies jugged
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
in Azimpur were married to three top bad boys, the counter-terrorism unit says.

Officials say the women knew each other from before and that their husbands had coaxed them into militancy. Two of the arrested women are highly educated.

Counter-terrorism unit Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanowar Hossain said the bandidos snuffies were undergoing treatment. Once they get well, they would be produce before the court.

"We hope to get more information after interrogation," he said.

Counter-terrorism sources say the three female bandidos snuffies are Afrin alias Priyoti, 25, wife of JMB leader Nurul Islam Marjan, Abedatul Arfin alias Khadiza, 35, wife of dead bad boy Tanvir Qadri alias Abdul Karim, and bad boy leader Jaman alias Basharuzzaman’s wife Shaila Afrin, 23.

Names of their husbands were mentioned in a case filed against them.

A source says, Priyoti is the daughter of one Abdul Jalil who lives in Pabna’s Ishwardi. Marjan is her maternal cousin. The couple went into hiding soon after they were married this January. Priyoti has reportedly passed Alim from a local madrasa.
According to the internet, the Alim exam appears to be Bangladesh's madrassah equivalent of a high school diploma.
Militant Jaman’s wife Shaila, daughter of one Abul Hashem, had gone missing two years ago when she was an undergraduate student. The family filed a complaint with Kalabagan police. She reportedly got involved in militancy after her marriage to Jaman.

Shaila’s one-year-old child was at the Azimpur den. She (Shaila, not the kid, ed.) attacked the coppers with knife and tried to escape by leaving her child behind.

Counter-terrorism sources say bad boy Tanvir’s wife Khadiza, daughter of one Kawsar Ahammed, is a highly-educated woman. Her ancestral home is at West Batkamari area under Boali Union of Gaibandha Sadar upazila.

She used to work at a private company like her husband. Tanvir coaxed his wife into militancy. Shortly after that, the couple left their jobs.

Counter-terrorism officials say Tanvir’s whole family is involved in militancy. Their two sons followed in their parents’ footsteps. One of them, Tahrim Qadri alias Rasel, was arrested from the Azimpur den. Police named him in a case filed over the raid. Rasel’s brother is said to have been sent on the path of ’Jihad’.

Jebunnahar, the wife of New JMB’s military trainer Maj (retd) Jahidul Islam, who was killed in a police raid, escaped with her daughter before the police raid at Azimpur.

Her passport and bank documents have been seized from there.

Counter-terrorism officials said they found out about the hideout when looking for Jebunnahar. Raids are being conducted to arrest her.

One of the officials say they suspect Jebunnahar had managed to get in touch with another bad boy and is laying low at a different hideout.

Her family members said Jebunnahar led a modern life and got involved in militancy through her husband. She started wearing veil at her husband Jahid’s insistence. They said Jahid used to offer prayers but he started taking religious activities too seriously for about a year and tried to influence the family members.

The counter-terrorism unit raided a building at Azimpur on Saturday night. The body of bad boy Tanvir alias Jamshed Hossain alias Shamser Uddin alias Abdul Karim, 40, was recovered from there. Police say he did away with himself.

Three suspected female bandidos snuffies and a 14-year-old boy were arrested. Police said two of the women tried to kill themselves during the raid. The third woman was arrested when fleeing.
