Nigeria: Boko Haram Behead Village Chief, Son
2016-09-21
[All Africa] Members of the Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, in the early hours of Monday, crept upon sleeping villagers of Talari where they slit the throats of the village head and his son, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

The attackers also rubbed out two other villagers as they were trying to escape.

An official of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Borno state, Abbas Gava, confirmed the incident to journalists on phone.

"The gunnies invaded the village in the early hours of Monday and they stormed the home of the village head, Ba' Lawan, where they slaughtered him and his son", he said.

"After killing the village head and his son, they burnt his home down and as the villagers began to run for their lives, the gunnies opened fire on them killing two persons, while many of them escaped with injuries".

Mr. Gava said Talari, an agrarian community in Damboa Local government, is located between Kilakia Village and Chibok.

Boko Haram Death Eaters have recently increased hostilities against villagers in remote communities especially around Damboa and Chibok local government areas of Borno State, which share boundaries with Sambisa forest.

Many of such attacks are unreported due to the remote and isolated nature of the communities, which are usually not protected by security operatives.

Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed

The terror group recently released a video in which they boasted about their large numbers and threatened to carry out more attacks on Nigerians including President Muhammadu Buhari.

Though the Nigeria military described the video as adulterated, the group has since then carried out fresh attacks in Borno State.

Nigeria's information Minister, Lai Mohmammed, recently announced that the Federal Government was willing to do a prisoner swap with the sect to free the kidnapped Chibok girls. He explained how a previously planned swap went wrong based on more demands by the Boko Haram.
