| ISIS leaders Get the Hell out of Dodge (IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – A local source in Salahuddin province has confirmed the escape of majority of ISIS leaders and their families to Hawija after military operation to liberate Sharqat was launched. Sharing details the source said, “ISIS leaders have fled Sharqat after shifting their families to Hawija as the military operations to liberate Sharqat began. They escaped using Tigris River”. “The remaining ISIS members are local residents and members of the ‘Caliphate Cubs’, who were thrown to the battlefields by the outfit and many of them are fleeing from their positions,” further added the source seeking anonymity. Iraqi forces storm Albu Eitha (IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – A source in Salahuddin Operations Command revealed on Tuesday that the joint security forces have stormed into Albu Eitha area in northern Sharqat, north of Tikrit, and further added that the security forces started to advance from the southern axis of the district. Sharing further details with Iraqi News, the source informed, “This morning, the joint security forces stormed into Albu Eitha area,” adding, “The battles are going on in the northern direction and the forces are advancing based on the plan.” “The joint security forces started to advance from the southern axis of Sharqat district,” the source said. Earlier today, the joint security forces started the liberation operation of Sharqat district from ISIS control, after two years of the group’s control over the district, while Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced launching the liberation operations of Sharqat, Heet Island and Ramadi Island. Iraqi forces capture 4 villages (IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – A security source in Salahuddin province informed on Tuesday, that the security forces have freed four villages during the liberation operations of Sharqat district. Sharing details the source said, “The joint security forces today liberated Jadaan, al-Aitha, al-Misihli and Suwaidan villages in Sharqat, 45 km north of Salah al-Din. The operation was launched from three directions and it was backed by the international coalition aviation and Iraqi Air Force.” The source seeking anonymity further said, “Air Force bombed multiple ISIS targets and the entire operation is progressing as per plan.” |
