Insurgent weapons cache uncovered in southern Thailand |
2016-09-28 |
[The Nation] A regiment of Thai rangers seized explosives and bomb-making components from a forest in Narathiwat province Tuesday morning. It is suspected that the munitions belonged to a group led by wanted man Arong Deuramae. The two-hour search in a forest in Ra Ngae district followed a tipoff by locals, who reported they spotted a group of suspicious men hiding in the woods. Although the men had fled by the time the officers arrived, the officers found a blacked-painted Honda motorcycle - later identified as the motorbike of Wannapa Phromka who was gunned down on July 29 - along with two already-assembled bombs, a grenade, some electrical circuit boards, a shotgun with ammunition, AK47 magazines and three communication radios. |
