WA: Lawmakers pledge to get tough on voter fraud
2016-10-01
[KREM] Lawmakers in Washington are pledging to get tough on voter fraud.

The state is moving forward on a plan that would require proof of citizenship anytime.

The latest change comes after an embarrassing week for voting administrators in Washington.

According to reports, the suspect in last week’s deadly mall shooting, Arcan Cetin, may have faked his voter registration. However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
Cetin still participated in several different elections.

It is for that reason that state voting workers are getting tougher on rules.

At the news conference on Friday, Washington’s Secretary of State, Kim Wyman insisted change is the only way to prevent voter fraud.

To reduce cases of voter fraud, Secretary Wyman is proposing a safeguard that is common in other states.

Under the proposal, people would have to present proof of citizenship whenever they get a drivers license.

Voting workers would also have access to that information, and could determine if a person is eligible to register to vote.

"These are ideas that have been discussed in Olympia for a decade, the time for action is now," said Wyman.

The Federal Department of Homeland Security has required these changes since 2005, but Washington never followed those orders.

In fact, Washington is one of only three states that do not check for proof of citizenship.

Auditors across the states said they have been flooded with angry calls in the last few days.

"They're upset about this. They think that every person has the authority to vote and we cannot prove it," said Yakima County auditor, Charles Ross.
Oddly enough, on the morning of September 30th, local television station KING5 ran this update about their previously living killer:
UPDATE: KING 5 learned Thursday that Arcan Cetin, the 20-year-old who killed five people at Cascade Mall on Sept. 23, is in fact a U.S. citizen.

For days after the shooting, Cetin was described by local and federal law enforcement as being a permanent U.S. resident. He immigrated to the U.S. from Turkey when he was a child, after his mother married an American citizen.

On Thursday, a federal official told KING that further investigation revealed that Cetin is a naturalized U.S. citizen. That means he was legally registered to vote.
But the single source, anonymous official did not say when Mr. Cetin obtained his citizenship, the fact of which his parents, acquaintances, and he himself on social media did not mention, so possibly he did vote before the paperwork was completed.

#5  Here in the Peoples Republic of Washington State they often simply keep recounting (and 'finding' more D votes) until the right candidate wins.

They also have been known to use Illegal Aliens in the elections office... What could possibly go wrong?

#2  None of you in Washington state have the guts to do what is right.

The way they see it (IMO), it ain't right if it elects the wrong people.

#1  Yeah, sure. I'll believe it when it when the law changes.

Until them, I'll assert "None of you in Washington state have the guts to do what is right."
