[Ynet] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's military operations in Syria have killed around 1,800 Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and Kurdish militia fighters since being launched in August, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday.

Turkey launched "Operation Euphrates Shield" four months ago in a bid to push Islamic State bandidos murderous Moslems away from its border in northern Syria and prevent Kurdish militia groups from seizing territory in their wake.
It seems safe to assume that most of the dead are Kurds, and that the real number is less than the announced one.
