| 13 civilians wounded in mortar attack in East of Afghanistan |

| [Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least 13 civilians were maimed in a mortar attack in eastern Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. province of Afghanistan, local officials said Thursday. The incident took place late on Wednesday evening in the restive Bati Kot district with the local officials blaming the myrmidon groups for the incident. The provincial police commandment said at least 5 children and 2 women were among those maimed. According to the local officials, some of the maimed civilians were discharged after receiving treatment while some are still being treated in the provincial hospital. |
